GONÇALO
Hi! I’m Gonçalo (Gon-sah-loo), the founder of Shaper Retreats and a certified ski instructor.
Before becoming a ski instructor, I studied business and finance and worked in various companies. But after a while, I realized something was missing. Every weekend, I found myself organizing outdoor adventures with friends to escape the corporate routine. I was searching for a deeper sense of purpose.
This led me back to my childhood dream of becoming a ski instructor. I pursued this passion, earned my Canadian Ski Instructor certificate, and dedicated myself to mastering the technical aspects of skiing. I discovered a deep joy in exploring the backcountry and combining climbing with skiing in my adventures.
Over seven years of skiing and teaching in Andorra, New Zealand, Japan, Switzerland, and Argentina, I’ve encountered incredible snow, embraced unique local traditions, and savored amazing food. I’ve also learned that maintaining both physical and mental well-being is crucial—not just for excelling on the slopes, but for living a balanced, fulfilling life.
Then I had a second realization: “I need to share this experience with others.” Now, with Shaper Retreats, I’m excited to give back to the industry that brought me so much purpose. My goal is to create experiences that nourish both body and mind, offering so much more than just a ski holiday.
ROWIE
I am a down-to-earth yoga instructor and the founder of Shizen Collective in Nozawa Onsen.
Originally from Australia, I have been based in Nozawa since 2019, after teaching yoga all over the world since 2011. During the winter, I run the cafe and yoga studio while still skiing most days, and I close the cafe on big powder days.
I am a 500 E-RYT and have completed over 1,000 hours in certified trainings with some of the most well-regarded teachers in the industry.
My classes are modern, authentic, accessible, and welcoming to all.
LAURA
Hi! I'm Lau. I am a passionate marketing expert with a love for adventure and nature.
Originally from Argentina, I have been exploring the world as a nomad for years. You can usually find me in the tropics, enjoying the ocean, but I have recently fallen in love with the ski and snow scene. I spend most of the year in Portugal, except when I am hitting the ski resorts.
I specialize in creating compelling marketing campaigns that promise you the best retreat experience of your life—and I guarantee, it will be just that.
When I'm not busy working in marketing, you can find me exploring new places and embracing the great outdoors. My goal is to make your retreat an unforgettable adventure.
